Exam pattern

Both IBPS PO and SBI PO follow a three-stage structure:

  1. Prelims — objective: English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning (around 100 marks, 1 hour). Screening only.
  2. Mains — Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English; plus a descriptive paper (essay & letter) in most cases.
  3. Interview / Group Exercise — the final stage before the merit list.

Salary and growth

A bank PO's starting pay is attractive, with allowances (DA, HRA) on top of basic pay, and a clear promotion ladder: PO → Manager → Senior Manager → Chief Manager and beyond.

How to prepare

  • Quant & Reasoning: Build speed with daily timed practice — these decide your prelims score.
  • English: Reading comprehension, grammar and vocabulary.
  • Banking & current affairs: Last 6 months of banking and economy news.
  • Mock tests: Full-length sectional and mock tests are essential for time management.

A focused 4–6 month plan is enough for most graduates who study daily.
